Museum of Archaeology and History in Elblag is a cultural institution governed by The City of Elblag Municipality. The range of Museum’s activity includes collecting, restoring, conservation, sharing and promotion of exhibits applying to the city of Elblag, The Elblag Upland and the Vistula Marshland.
Visiting the museum one can admire interesting objects originating from a few local archaeological sites such as some medieval city localisations, the ‘Truso’ Viking trading post and a goth burial ground in Weklice. Archaeological works conducted on a previously unprecedented scale lead to expanding the collection by thousands of objects made of ceramic, metal, wood, leather, amber, glass, etc. Some of the objects are unique on a European scale such as the collection of medieval instruments and pilgrimage signs, Viking charms and a solar compass or lavishly ornamented Roman objects of common use.
The found objects are a clear proof of Elblag’s extraordinary history and its numerous trade bonds with many regions of ancient Europe what has been presented in a holographic film “Stories over the borders”
